Kaley Cuoco exclusively told E! News that she hopes people will stop mom shaming her, explaining that she and fiancé Tom Pelphrey are ensuring 18-month-old daughter Matilda has the ideal childhood.
Kaley Cuoco approaches parenting with a bang.
And the Big Bang Theory alum is hoping that everyone—parents and non-parents included—can stop with the “mom shaming” as she and fiancé Tom Pelphrey do what’s best for them and their 18-month-old daughter Matilda.
“Every mom I can guarantee is doing the best they can,” Kaley exclusively told E! News in an interview airing Nov. 18, at 11 p.m. “Look, everyone’s got something to say about everything. There’s no change before I had kids, to having kids, to where I am in my life.”
The 38-year-old added, “It’s just this business, it’s this life. It is what it is. But yeah, we got to stop at the shaming.”
And Kaley—who announced her engagement to Tom in August after two years together—knows that the couple are giving their daughter a great childhood, adding that she’s “the happiest kid in the world” with so much “love around her.”
“I just feel like every kid is so different,” she continued. “What’s good for your kid might not be good for mine.”
Case in point? Screen time. While many parents choose to limit the amount of time their children spend watching TV or playing on screens, Kaley isn’t so worried, joking that Matilda is already a big movie fan.
“She just watched like, seven movies on HBO,” Kaley laughed. “Yeah, she’s watching Game of Thrones when I get home.”
While she knows that every parent “has their process,” she has actually noticed that Matilda cares less about screen time with the more she watches. As Kaley said, “I think that’s the trick.”
And the Flight Attendant star is already preparing for Matilda to choose a life in the entertainment industry one day—following in the footsteps of Kaley and her sister Briana Cuoco—joking, “I don’t know how this child will not be an actress. I mean, it’s an acting family.”
Luckily, Kaley feels less apprehensive about it, because she and Tom have both had positive experiences, and they know the good side of the acting world.
“We’ve been through all the ups and downs,” she said, “and that girl is a performer. There’s no way she’s not going to perform.”
In fact, the toddler has already spent plenty of time with her mom on the set of Based on a True Story, charming everyone in her path—including costar Chris Messina.
“She’s adorable,” he gushed to E!. “She’d play in the trailer and everybody’s happy.”
And for now, Kaley and Tom are enjoying being engaged and raising Matilda. As Kaley explained, the two are likely to have another baby before they finally tie the knot.
