New angle emerges of huge brawl at Jorge Masvidal vs Nate Diaz press conference that caused chaos

A major brawl broke out during the Diaz vs Masvidal press conference.

A new angle has emerged of the incident that appeared to cause a huge brawl at the press conference involving Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz.

The pair of UFC veterans will take part in a boxing match against each other on July 6.

A press conference promoting the event took place in Anaheim, California yesterday, with Diaz and Masvidal supposed to face off once it was over.

But Diaz began to walk away from the scene before that could happen, with organisers eventually convincing him to return to the stage, as per ESPN.

Both fighters then exchanged words before being surrounded by their separate teams.

A major brawl then broke out involving members of Masvidal’s team, Masvidal himself and Diaz’s team. It appears that Diaz was not involved.

Now, a new angle has emerged that appears to show exactly what caused the chaos.

A member of Diaz’s team appeared to aim a punch at Masvidal, who was on the opposite side, before the brawl then broke out.

A number of people fell over chairs and began brawling on the floor, with Masvidal – in the yellow shirt – being pulled away by security to avoid him getting involved, although he did attempt to stop one of his team members from falling to the ground.

Diaz and Masvidal have been rivals since 2019, when the latter beat the former via doctor’s stoppage to win the symbolic BMF title at UFC 244.

Speaking at the press conference – prior to the brawl – Diaz said: “I’m done with this whole press conference s**t.

“I’m glad we’re here promoting these great fights that are happening, but besides that, my work here is done.”

The fight between the pair will take place at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California on July 6.

Diaz’s only professional boxing bout to date was a unanimous decision defeat to Jake Paul in August, while Masvidal’s only fight came 19 years ago when he defeated Joseph Benjamin in a majority decision over four rounds back in 2005.
