But according to her younger sister, the Dolly they saw onstage was exactly the same woman her family knew at home \u2014 generous, compassionate and always thinking about someone else.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Even in her final days, when her own health was failing, Dolly was reportedly thinking about how she could help others. What she offered her doctors is a heartbreaking final glimpse into the kind of person she truly was.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Emotional revelation<\/h2>\n

Dolly Parton\u00a0died Tuesday, August 25, at age 80 following a period of health struggles and after being diagnosed with cancer.<\/p>\n

As fans around the world mourn the loss of the country music icon, her younger sister Stella Parton has now opened up about Dolly\u2019s final days and the selfless decision she was willing to make.<\/p>\n

Stella shared the\u00a0emotional revelation\u00a0in a tribute, remembering her sister not only as a global superstar but as the woman she spoke with every Tuesday morning.<\/p>\n

For years, the sisters would call each other before sunrise, coffee in hand, just as they had when they were little girls growing up on a Tennessee farm.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy big sister Dolly got her wings this past Tuesday,\u201d Stella wrote. \u201cIf anyone gets to heaven I\u2019m sure she made it right on time. I know she\u2019s showing out big time, in all her sparkles and shine.\u201d<\/p>\n

But Stella\u2019s most powerful words came when she revealed what Dolly was willing to do if doctors could no longer save her.<\/p>\n

Dolly had reportedly told her sister that even if there was no hope for her recovery, she would still allow her medical team to try experimental treatments \u2014 not for herself, but in the hope that what doctors learned could someday help someone else.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy sister was one of the most generous, thoughtful and kind people I\u2019ve ever known,\u201d Stella wrote. \u201cWhat the world saw is exactly who she was.\u201d<\/p>\n

Stella said Dolly\u2019s willingness to help others remained with her until the very end.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe told me recently that if there was no hope for her, she would still allow her medical team to try experimental drugs in the hope of helping others in the future,\u201d Stella wrote.<\/p>\n

It was a final act that seemed to perfectly reflect the woman Dolly had always tried to be: someone who used her life, her success and her resources to lift other people up.<\/p>\n

And Stella believes that is exactly how Dolly\u2019s legacy should continue.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy sister was always thinking of others,\u201d she wrote, urging those who loved Dolly to honor her memory by showing kindness, helping others and giving their time and resources whenever they can.<\/p>\n

For Stella, however, the loss is deeply personal.<\/p>\n

She remembered those quiet Tuesday morning phone calls with her sister \u2014 moments away from the cameras, music and fame.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe would catch up on gossip, as sisters do, and drink coffee and make plans, as it has always been our way,\u201d Stella recalled.<\/p>\n

Now, those calls are gone.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy Tuesday morning coffee time will never be the same but her love, respect and goodness will remain,\u201d she wrote. \u201cShe left the world a better place by being in it so let\u2019s follow her example.\u201d<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, Stella was already mourning several devastating losses within the Parton family. In June 2026, she spoke to People about the deaths of her brothers David, Randy and Floyd and the profound impact their passing had on her.<\/p>\n

\u201cGrowing up with so many siblings, we were very emotionally connected, and still are in a real emotional way. It\u2019s a soul connection,\u201d she said. \u201cSo this whole thing was kind of like emotional paralysis for me in a strange sort of way.
