    Former first lady\u00a0Dr. Jill Biden\u00a0revealed in an interview with SiriusXM\u2019s\u00a0Let\u2019s Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa<\/em>\u00a0<\/em>on Wednesday, Aug. 5, that former President\u00a0Joe Biden\u00a0was getting up \u201cseven times a night\u201d before receiving his prostate cancer diagnosis.<\/p>\n

    Jill recalled telling White House physicians about her husband\u2019s concerning nighttime pattern and nothing came of it, so she \u201cthought it was addressed.\u201d<\/p>\n

    \u201cBut when it continued when we got out of the White House [in January 2025], I said, \u2018Joe, we\u2019ve got to go up to Jeff in Philly \u2014 something\u2019s wrong,\u2019 \u201d she told\u00a0Kelly Ripa.<\/p>\n

    Joe, now 83, was diagnosed with an \u201caggressive\u201d form of prostate cancer last May. Jill, 75, said her husband \u201cwill forever live with cancer\u201d due to it metastasizing to his bones before getting caught.<\/p>\n

    \u201cWe have to be mindful of it every three months, testing and medicines,\u201d Jill said on the podcast. \u201cAnd anybody who\u2019s gone through this cancer journey \u2014 and I\u2019ve been through it many times with members of my family, of course with\u00a0Beau\u00a0\u2014 it\u2019s constant. It\u2019s daily. And I think it\u2019s challenging.\u201d<\/p>\n

    Beau Biden, Joe\u2019s oldest son with his first wife,\u00a0died of glioblastoma in 2015.<\/p>\n

    In a May\u00a0CBS Sunday Morning<\/em>\u00a0interview, Jill said it was \u201cshocking\u201d to learn of her husband\u2019s diagnosis given his exhaustive evaluations by White House doctors. \u201cI do feel we had amazing care in the White House, but somehow that was missed,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

    She was told\u00a0by her husband\u2019s doctor\u00a0that in accordance with the American Urological Association\u2019s recommendations, men over 70 do not require routine blood tests to screen for prostate cancer because the disease is slow-growing.<\/p>\n

    Speaking to Ripa, Jill said that despite her concerns about something being wrong, \u201cI never, oh my God, I never thought it would be prostate cancer.\u201d<\/p>\n

    Kelly dismissed the speculation of a \u201cbig cover-up\u201d from the Biden family amid Joe\u2019s cancer diagnosis, sharing that her own father found himself in a similar situation.<\/p>\n

    \u201cMy dad was in a car accident and thought he injured his back because somebody was texting and driving and hit him from behind. And if he didn\u2019t get into that accident, I don\u2019t know what would\u2019ve happened. He didn\u2019t realize that it was the cancer in his bones,\u201d Ripa, 55, said. \u201cSo I\u2019m grateful for the car accident, believe it or not, because at least we were able to treat it.\u201d<\/p>\n

    \u201cSo when people were like, \u2018There\u2019s no way you can\u2019t know,\u2019 oh, yes, there is,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

    In September 2025, a spokesperson for the former president confirmed to PEOPLE that he also\u00a0underwent Mohs surgery\u00a0\u2014 a procedure used to treat skin cancer.<\/p>\n
