Donald Trump\u2018s former counter-terrorism chief, Joe Kent, has made an unprecedented claim about who killed\u00a0Charlie Kirk\u00a0last year, just days after resigning from the top role.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The American politician, 45, released a bombshell resignation letter earlier this week (March 17), leaving Americans truly baffled about the severity of the\u00a0war in Iran.<\/p>\n

The former\u00a0US\u00a0official urged the president to \u2018reverse course\u2019 in his departure note, claiming that\u00a0Iran posed \u2018no imminent threat\u2019 to the US when they conducted airstrikes alongside Israel last month.<\/p>\n

Kent also claimed the administration \u2018started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby.\u2019<\/p>\n

The White House completely dismissed his letter, stating that they had \u2018compelling evidence\u2019 that Iran was going to attack the US first.<\/p>\n

Why did America start a war with Iran?<\/h2>\n

Many feel that Trump has bitten off more than he can chew with the war in Iran, named \u2018Operation Epic Fury\u2019 by the US, after striking the country on February 28.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0US\u00a0and Israel\u2019s mission was to rid the world of the former Iranian Supreme Leader,\u00a0Ali Khamenei, which proved to be a success.<\/p>\n

Trump later confirmed his death on social media.<\/p>\n

The regime then appointed his son, Mojtaba Khamenei, 56, who also escaped death by \u2018seconds\u2019 according to\u00a0reports.<\/p>\n

He allegedly went out into the garden moments before missiles hit his home and killed his father.<\/p>\n

Both America and Israel, along with their allies in recent years, decided that if Iran\u2019s development of deadly missiles progressed any further, it could pose a serious security threat to the West.<\/p>\n

But many of those under the Iranian regime have also called for reform.<\/p>\n

Governments across the\u00a0world\u00a0have categorized the regime\u2019s behaviour has highly authoritarian and strongly opposed to the Western way of\u00a0life\u00a0and beliefs.<\/p>\n

When will the war end?<\/h2>\n

Heated remarks were voiced in the Oval Office earlier this week, as Trump insisted that America \u2018don\u2019t need any help\u2019 from Nato in regards to the war.<\/p>\n

However, the president added that they \u2018should\u2019ve been there.\u2019<\/p>\n

His most harsh criticism was directed at the\u00a0UK, suggesting that Prime Minister Keir Starmer has harmed the relationship between the long-standing allies.<\/p>\n

He added that the war was a \u2018great test\u2019 of the alliance\u2019s relations with the US.<\/p>\n

In terms of when the war will end, Trump is pressing that it\u2019s still completely within his control.<\/p>\n

Washington appears to have conducted the airstrikes on the assumption that military pressure from both the US and Israel would collapse the Iranian regime.<\/p>\n

However, they have demonstrated a remarkable capacity to survive the crisis.<\/p>\n

Counter-terrorism chief resigns abruptly<\/h2>\n

After Trump failed to retreat from Iran, Kent published his resignation letter on X, alleging that Israel \u2018lied\u2019 in order to convince the US to get involved in the operation.<\/p>\n

Following his departure, Kent is now the most high-profile figure within the Trump administration to publicly criticise the attack on Iran.<\/p>\n
