Hayden Panettiere died on Sunday, at only 36 years old. The actress is survived by her 11-year-old daughter Kaya, and her family is in mourning. Sadly, her relationship with her mother, Lesley Vogel, was strained for many years. And just months before her death, Vogel made a shocking claim about her daughter<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Hayden Panettiere, known for\u00a0Remember the Titans<\/em>\u00a0and later the television series\u00a0Heroes<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Nashville<\/em>, died on August 16 at the age of 36 after she was found unresponsive at a home in Greenville, South Carolina. Her father, Skip Panettiere, confirmed the heartbreaking news and described his daughter as \u201can incredible light and a force of nature.\u201d<\/p>\n

Authorities have said the investigation remains ongoing, with no signs of foul play or suspicious circumstances found so far. Meanwhile, on Monday, the 911 call audio was unveiled by Page Six, with the\u00a0possible cause of death being revealed.<\/p>\n

Hayden Panettiere released her memoir\u00a0This Is Me: A Reckoning<\/em>\u00a0just months ago. In it, she revealed many details about her past, including the strained relationship with her estranged mother, Lesley Vogel.<\/p>\n

Hayden Panettiere\u2019s complicated relationship with her mother<\/h2>\n

Hayden said she had chosen to be honest about the situation, explaining that she and her mother had not been talking at the time.<\/p>\n

\u201cUnfortunately, we don\u2019t have a relationship right now,\u201d she told\u00a0US Magazine\u00a0before the memoir\u2019s release, adding that she had not completely closed the door on reconnecting one day.<\/p>\n

The actress also described how difficult it had been growing up with her mother managing her career.<\/p>\n

Hayden became a child star at a very young age. Speaking with CBS News, she recalled how her mother dragged along her \u201ceight-month-old baby into audition rooms.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt went from there and progressed into 50 commercials by the time I was five\u2026 It just never stopped,\u201d Panettiere explained.<\/p>\n

In May, Hayden Panettiere appeared on\u00a0On Purpose<\/em>\u00a0with Jay Shetty, where she spoke at length about her estranged mother. After working together for pretty much her entire life, Panettiere finally dared to \u201csplit\u201d from her mother at 19, whom she called \u201cboss.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, Lesley wasn\u2019t having it.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe came into my trailer during lunch when we were filming \u2018Heroes,\u2019 and I said to her, \u2018I don\u2019t want us to work together anymore; I just want you to be my mom,\u2019\u201d Panettiere recalled telling Vogel, who allegedly replied, \u201cYou owe me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lesley Vogel wasn\u2019t happy with her daughter\u2019s words. Not long after, in an interview with\u00a0Page Six, she strongly disputed Hayden\u2019s story. She even claimed that her daughter only did it to sell books.<\/p>\n

She added a rather harsh assessment of Hayden\u2019s personality as well, alleging that she had displayed \u201ca need for control, entitlement and a lack of empathy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Moreover, Vogel said she was the one who had cut contact after what she described as \u201c20 years of trauma.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter 20 years of trauma, I took the advice of professionals and chose the no-contact route. As many parents of entertainment children [know], we are all too familiar with the painful observation of watching the self-destructive paths they sometimes choose,\u201d she said in part at the time. \u201cNo parent hopes for this scenario; we want our children to be the best of themselves and live a peaceful, joyful life!\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite everything, Hayden had said she remained open to the possibility that their relationship could change one day. Sadly, that opportunity never came.<\/p>\n
