Credit: Shutterstock\" width=\"664\" height=\"350\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Donald Trump\u2019s freshly coiffed hair has sparked jokes about a Christmas elf from Rudolph, but his estranged niece says the punchline could hide a much more serious concern.<\/strong><\/p>\n<div id=\"newsner-1027501223\" class=\"newsner-after_first_paragraph\">\n<div id=\"intext_198281_1_wrapper\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Donald Trump\u2019s distinctive blondish-red hair has been scrutinized almost as long as he has, and if there\u2019s one thing the president has made clear over the years, it\u2019s that he pays attention to what\u2019s happening on top of his head.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During his 2015 presidential campaign,\u00a0Trump\u00a0was so determined to shut down speculation that he wore a wig that he invited people to touch his hair, while two years later, the view from behind prompted a surprisingly candid admission.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI try like hell to hide that bald spot,\u201d he told the crowd at the Conservative Political Action Conference, according to the\u00a0Independent.<\/p>\n<div id=\"newsner-6b750974ffb4bef4c2e51cacf812729c\" class=\"newsner-6b750974ffb4bef4c2e51cacf812729c newsner-incide_content_once\"><\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now, however, Trump\u2019s freshly styled\u00a0hair\u00a0has caught the attention of someone much closer to home \u2013 his estranged niece Mary Trump, who sees something beyond the obvious jokes.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-the-elf-from-rudolph\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">The elf from \u2018Rudolph\u2019<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mary, 61, is the daughter of the president\u2019s late older brother, Fred Trump Jr., and has become one of the most outspoken critics within the Trump family.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A psychologist and author, she has written extensively about her relatives and the family dynamics she believes helped shape her uncle, including in her 2020 book \u201cToo Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World\u2019s Most Dangerous Man.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Her attention recently turned to something considerably more visible after Trump appeared in Las Vegas with freshly coiffed hair that looked noticeably fuller than usual.<\/p>\n<div id=\"newsner-1294031975\" class=\"newsner-article_inside_content\">\n<div id=\"intext_198281_2_wrapper\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"newsner-bb57a5c1713396648777b8ea9b701ec7\" class=\"newsner-bb57a5c1713396648777b8ea9b701ec7 newsner-amp_article_inside_content\"><\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The change didn\u2019t escape Mary.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During an appearance on SiriusXM host Dean Obeidallah\u2019s YouTube show, she couldn\u2019t resist comparing her uncle\u2019s new look to a certain blond-haired Christmas character.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"entered exited lazyloaded\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fpermalink.php%3Fstory_fbid%3Dpfbid02wRzVRLQ9WsnkoRzPAkPi2JzfgUBEufUEggaJiNJnmk3cWFW2Nj1bf8nYMHKSvASgl%26id%3D100044236518906&amp;show_text=true&amp;width=500\" width=\"500\" height=\"440\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-rocket-lazyload=\"fitvidscompatible\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fpermalink.php%3Fstory_fbid%3Dpfbid02wRzVRLQ9WsnkoRzPAkPi2JzfgUBEufUEggaJiNJnmk3cWFW2Nj1bf8nYMHKSvASgl%26id%3D100044236518906&amp;show_text=true&amp;width=500\" data-ll-status=\"loaded\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI\u2019m not going to say anything about whether it looked good or not. I don\u2019t really care,\u201d\u00a0Mary said. \u201cHowever, he looked like Herby the Dentist from\u00a0<em>Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer<\/em>\u00a0\u2013that was my takeaway.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The resemblance Mary was apparently referring to was Hermey, the blond elf from the 1964 Christmas special who famously dreams of becoming a dentist.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And she wasn\u2019t alone in doing a double take.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-trump-has-a-weave\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u2018Trump has a weave!!\u2019<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As images from Trump\u2019s Las Vegas appearance spread online, his unusually voluminous hair quickly became almost as much of a talking point as his speech.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIs Trump rocking a wig, or what the hell is going on here?\u201d one X\u00a0user asked, after previously\u00a0sharing: \u201cTrump\u2019s hair, uh, has a lot more volume than normal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Former Republican Rep. Before his death in 1999, his condition later progressed to\u00a0Alzheimer\u2019s disease, according to The Washington Post.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mary has previously spoken about witnessing the deterioration of her grandfather \u2013 who she once called a \u201csociopath\u201d \u2013 including the changes surrounding his hair.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Expanding on that in her interview with Obeidallah, she recalled that as her grandad\u2019s condition progressed, he would color his hair and \u201cleave the dye on too long. So, he would end up with a magenta mustache. Oh, the horrors,\u201d Mary said. \u201cSo, [family members] literally would stop bringing my grandfather out in public.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-obsession-with-hair\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Obsession with hair<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But for Mary, the more telling comparison was her grandfather\u2019s changing relationship with his hair.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWhat\u2019s really interesting about it to me is that my grandfather had a receding hairline from the time he was a teenager. And he was always very self-conscious about it. He still had a decent amount of hair when he was in his 80s. But then he got Alzheimer\u2019s and suddenly he wanted more hair. So, he got a very ill-fitting toupe,\u201d she explained, adding \u201cAnd my family, especially Donald, found this absolutely embarrassing.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"newsner-1043905205\" class=\"newsner-article_inside_content\">\n<div id=\"intext_198281_4_wrapper\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"newsner-7ad20f89b0f8d96b59f355466aeb98f7\" class=\"newsner-7ad20f89b0f8d96b59f355466aeb98f7 newsner-amp_article_inside_content\"><\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Seeing her uncle suddenly sporting a dramatically fuller hairstyle apparently brought those memories rushing back.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAnd now here\u2019s Donald potentially. I mean I don\u2019t know if it was really a wig or what, I don\u2019t know if it\u2019s hair in a can \u2013 I don\u2019t know. But suddenly being all obsessed about his hair kind of like his dad.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Obeidallah also raised that the POTUS is now \u201caround the same age\u201d that Trump Sr. \u201cfirst saw signs of dementia, \u201cso maybe this is part of the dementia,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What do you think about the comparisons Mary Trump has made between Donald Trump and his father?
