What was\u00a0Charlie Kirk\u00a0like as a high school student? One of his former classmates has revealed all.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Kirk, a controversial figure on the\u00a0American\u00a0far-right, founded Turning Point USA and was\u00a0assassinated\u00a0in September of last year during an appearance at Utah Valley University.<\/p>\n

A controversial legacy<\/h2>\n

While Kirk was a beloved member of the MAGA movement and was a key figure in helping\u00a0Donald Trump\u00a0get elected as President of the United States, he was also loathed in many circles.<\/p>\n

Kirk\u2019s views, which he regularly trumpeted at TPUSA rallies and on his\u00a0Charlie Kirk Show<\/em>, were often centered around anti-abortion messaging, anti-DEI takes, and often wildly inaccurate statements regarding the Civil Rights Movement and the\u00a0LGBTQ+\u00a0community.<\/p>\n

The TPUSA founder also spread large amounts of misinformation regarding the Covid-19 pandemic, while amplifying Trump\u2019s false claims of election fraud in the 2020 US presidential election.<\/p>\n

While appearing on stage during a TPUSA event at Utah Valley University, as part of what he dubbed \u2018The American Comeback Tour,\u2019 Kirk was\u00a0shot\u00a0in the neck in front of a large crowd that had gathered.<\/p>\n

Captured on camera, the horrific video was spread around social media as news of Kirk\u2019s murder broke around a stunned United States.<\/p>\n

Twenty-two-year-old Tyler James Robinson was arrested for the shooting.<\/p>\n

Robinson was charged with aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm causing serious bodily injury, two counts of witness tampering, and commission of a violent offense in the presence of a child.<\/p>\n

Who was Charlie Kirk?<\/h2>\n

Kirk was born in Arlington Heights, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, in October, 1993. His father, Robert W. Kirk, an architect, was involved in the construction of Trump Tower in Manhattan, New York.<\/p>\n

A young Kirk became enamored with the conservative politics of the Republican Party in middle school, listening to the Rush Limbaugh Show and writing an essay for Breitbart News, before making his first media appearance on Fox Business at the age of 17.<\/p>\n

Kirk would leave college after one semester to focus his energies on Turning Point, the political group he co-founded with conservative businessman Bill Montgomery in 2012.<\/p>\n

Montgomery encouraged Kirk to pursue a political career, which saw Kirk eventually become a prominent figure in Trump\u2019s Make America Great Again movement.<\/p>\n

The young conservative became infamous on college campuses for turning up to debate students and people with other ideologies.<\/p>\n

While those on the far-right regularly celebrated Kirk as a master debater, many on the left pointed out that he wasn\u2019t a particularly strong debater and often became mad and belligerent when he was proven wrong or not well read enough on a subject to properly engage in discourse surrounding it.<\/p>\n

To further these claims from those on the left, in February 2023, a study by the Brookings Institution found that Kirk\u2019s podcast contained the second-highest proportion of false, misleading, and unsubstantiated statements among 36,603 episodes produced by 79 prominent political podcasters.<\/p>\n

Following his death, Kirk\u2019s position as the face of TPUSA was taken up by his widow, Erika Kirk. They have two children together.<\/p>\n

Former classmate reveals what Kirk was really like<\/h2>\n

After his assassination, a story appeared online about Kirk, from a man who claimed he attended high school with him.<\/p>\n

A user on Threads by the name of Nick Caputo posted on the social media platform, detailing allegations of serious bullying he received from Kirk during his formative years.<\/p>\n

While Kirk\u2019s high school years have often been cited as part of his political awakening, his alleged former classmate explained that Kirk was in fact nothing more than a bully.<\/p>\n

The post detailed how the classmate was pushed so far to the brink by Kirk\u2019s alleged bullying that he even considered taking his own life.<\/p>\n

\u201cCharlie Kirk bullied me relentlessly in high school to the point that I had a s**cide attempt before the age of 18,\u201d the post began.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel sympathy for his wife and kids, and only them. I also lost my father very young, something Charlie knew as he was giving me hell. The only reason I want to go back in time to stop this from happening is because of his kids so they don\u2019t experience the same thing.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut I will never, under any circumstances, feel sympathy for this terrible person.\u201d<\/p>\n

The post was met with a mixture of emotions and responses at the time. Some felt it was tasteless to bring up so soon after Kirk\u2019s assassination, that perhaps it was trying to score points or even to lie outright about Kirk.<\/p>\n
