Scott Eastwood revealed that Brad Pitt had to step in after a tense confrontation with Shia LaBeouf on the set of\u00a0Fury<\/em>, later describing his co-star as a \u201cpsychopath\u201d who\u2019s \u201cclearly tormented.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Working alongside Brad Pitt is something many actors dream about. For Scott Eastwood, however, one of his strongest memories from filming the 2014 World War II drama\u00a0Fury\u00a0<\/em>wasn\u2019t a scene in front of the cameras, but an off-camera clash with fellow cast member Shia LaBeouf that briefly threatened to turn physical.<\/p>\n

Speaking on the Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard podcast, Eastwood \u2013 the son of the legendary\u00a0Clint Eastwood\u00a0\u2013 reflected on the intense atmosphere director David Ayer created while preparing the cast to play a battle-hardened Sherman tank crew.<\/p>\n

Alongside\u00a0Pitt, LaBeouf, Jon Bernthal, Michael Pe\u00f1a and Logan Lerman, the actors went through a demanding boot camp designed to build the kind of bond\u00a0soldiers\u00a0might develop in combat.<\/p>\n

But while the training was meant to unite the cast, one disagreement soon turned into a battle between co-stars.<\/p>\n

\u2018This guy\u2019s crazy\u2019<\/h2>\n

Before the situation turned hot, Eastwood recalled LaBeouf pulling out one of his own teeth and cutting himself to stay immersed in character.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s a very method [actor]\u2026From what I recall, he pulled out one of his teeth before we even started shooting,\u201d\u00a0Eastwood, 40, told Shepard in the Aug. 3 interview.<\/p>\n

\u201cThen he cut himself. And I remember thinking, \u2018Okay, this guy\u2019s crazy. I\u2019m just going to keep clear from this guy because I don\u2019t really I don\u2019t play this game. You go and do that, but there\u2019s plenty of ways to do a performance in a movie.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite trying to avoid conflict, Eastwood said the pair eventually clashed over a scene where his character spat chewing tobacco onto the tank.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne day he was having an episode, and he thought that I shouldn\u2019t be spitting tobacco on the tank\u2026which was in the script,\u201d Eastwood said, explaining that he snapped as the disagreement with his co-star escalated.<\/p>\n

\u201cHey, f**k you. Stop pulling your st\u2026 I\u2019m going to whoop your ass,\u201d Eastwood told the\u00a0Transformers<\/em>\u00a0star, who he earlier described as a \u201ccompete pain in my as**\u201d<\/p>\n

After confronting LaBeouf, who apparently \u201cgot, you know, froggy,\u201d Eastwood said that several people moved to intervene before it could go any further. Among them was Pitt, who \u201csort of broke up broke up broke up\u201d the \u201clittle a tense moment.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2018Clearly tormented\u2019<\/h2>\n

Looking back, Eastwood suggested the confrontation reflected broader tensions involving LaBeouf on set rather than a one-off disagreement.<\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone had moments with Shia that were, I think at one point going to come to blows or not,\u201d he said, pointing to the distinction between LaBeouf\u2019s undeniable talent and the behavior he experienced while making the film.<\/p>\n

\u201cShia is clearly tormented and has maybe got, you know, some stuff going on \u2013 and certainly addiction,\u201d The\u00a0Lucky Strike<\/em>\u00a0star said on the podcast. \u201cThe film industry attracts psychopaths because it\u2019s an art.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cAt the same time, when you see that performance, you\u2019re like, \u2018Holy s**t, that\u2019s magnetic.\u2019 It\u2019s really interesting to watch,\u201d Eastwood added, praising LaBeouf\u2019s talent.<\/p>\n

How Brad Pitt remembered the incident<\/h2>\n

Years before Eastwood revisited the incident, Pitt, 62, also reflected on the confrontation while speaking with\u00a0GQ.<\/p>\n

According to Pitt, both he and LaBeouf initially believed Eastwood was disrespecting the Sherman tank by spitting chewing tobacco on it, not realizing it was part of the script.<\/p>\n
