A medical expert spoke out about the gruesome discoveries she made after conducting autopsies of all four victims in the\u00a0Idaho murders.<\/p>\n

The release of Netflix’s The Idaho Murders: College Nightmare, has brought renewed interest to the gruesome killers, a year on from killer Bryan Kohberger’s conviction.<\/p>\n

A number of revelations were made in a crime doc, such as one of the\u00a0two survivors<\/u>\u00a0telling police about what they heard Kohberger say in the house.<\/p>\n

While his\u00a0chilling words\u00a0were enough to shoot fear down your spine, there’s more information about the investigation that many aren’t familiar with.<\/p>\n

The documentary explores Kohberger’s murders of four\u00a0University of Idaho students<\/u>: Madison May Mogen, Kaylee Jade Goncalves, Xana Alexia Kernodle, and Ethan James Chapin in their home.<\/p>\n

Kohberger\u00a0was sentenced to four life sentences, but he has recently threatened to withdraw the guilty plea that spared him from standing trial and the death penalty.<\/p>\n

But a year ago, a forensic pathologist was set to tell jurors that the victims “endured a high degree of pain and\/or suffering prior to their deaths as a result of the injuries inflicted,” during the trial.<\/p>\n

Expert opens up on autopsy findings<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Dr.Veena Singh was meant to testify as an expert for the prosecution at Kohberger’s trial as she conducted the autopsies of all the victims as the medical examiner for Spokane County, Wash., as reported by\u00a0People.<\/p>\n

According to the newly unsealed discovery disclosure obtained by the publication, Singh determined the manner of death to be homicide in all four cases.<\/p>\n

She would have named Chapin specifically, finding that he “experienced a high degree of pain and\/or suffering prior to his death as a result of the injuries inflicted but to a lesser degree than the other decedents.”<\/p>\n

According to autopsy reports, Chapin, Mogen and Goncalves were killed as they were in bed, suffering fatal injuries before being able to stand up.<\/p>\n

Kernodle wasn’t asleep during the attack, brutally battling Kohberger as she was stabbed 67 times, resulting in more injuries than the other victims.<\/p>\n

In fact, her autopsy report was four pages longer than the others due to the extent of medical trauma she suffered.<\/p>\n

But ultimately, the medical examiner did not need to provide testimony as Kohberger reached a deal with prosecutors, pleading guilty to four counts of murder to avoid the death penalty.<\/p>\n

Bryan Kohberger threatened to withdraw guilty plea<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Earlier this week, Kohberger filed a petition for post-conviction relief in Idaho’s Ada County District Court, arguing that his conviction should now be overturned.<\/p>\n

Court records now show Kohberger is representing himself in the filing.<\/p>\n

According to documents obtained by NBC News, Kohberger\u00a0claims<\/u>\u00a0his defense team provided “ineffective” legal representation and alleges he was “convinced to falsely confess” to murders he insists he did not commit.<\/p>\n

He further argued that he was led to believe whether he was actually guilty was irrelevant when deciding whether to accept the plea agreement.<\/p>\n

In the filing, Kohberger claimed he was “advised to lie” and told he would secure a “legal victory” by entering what he described as a “false plea”.<\/p>\n

The claims mirror remarks Kohberger recently made during an interview with The New York Times, where he again maintained his innocence and argued he had been manipulated into pleading guilty.<\/p>\n

“My actual innocence is my truth, and the plea, hinged on by false promises and blatant disinformation, MUST be withdrawn,” he said in a statement provided to the newspaper.<\/p>\n
