Saudi Arabia getting access to nuclear enrichment is absolutely insane. We\u2019re supposed to be told that Iran can\u2019t be trusted with a nuclear program, but somehow the kingdom tied to 9\/11 hijackers and the murder of Jamal Khashoggi gets a pass? That\u2019s not national security. That\u2019s a payoff with a flag on it. Recent reporting says the Trump administration signed a nuclear cooperation pact with Saudi Arabia that could open the door to enrichment, while critics are already pointing to years of ethical concerns around Jared Kushner\u2019s Saudi ties, including a $2 billion investment in his firm.

And let\u2019s not pretend the timing and the money don\u2019t matter. When a president\u2019s son-in-law gets a $2 billion Saudi investment after serving as a top Middle East adviser, people are allowed to ask whether this country\u2019s policy is being written by national security officials or by grifters cashing checks. If Trump can scream \u201cIran bad\u201d while handing the Saudis a potential nuclear lane, then the entire argument was never about safety, stability, or nonproliferation. It was about who pays and who profits.

That\u2019s the real sickness here: they\u2019ll risk American security, regional stability, and global sanity if it means another billion dollars for themselves and their friends. MBS gets access.
