Conor McGregor has posted for the first time since his fight against Michael Chandler was called off.

Conor McGregor has broken his silence after being ruled out of UFC 303 due to injury.

McGregor was originally scheduled to make his long awaited return to the octagon at the T-Mboile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada for UFC 303 on June 29.

However, it was confirmed on Thursday that McGregor will not be able to fight due to an injury.

In a video, Dana White stated that the new main event will be Alex Pereira vs. Jiri Prochazka for the light heavyweight title.

Writing on social media, the Irishman said: “Very tough to be ruled out of my scheduled return bout. I picked up an injury prior to the press conference that required more time to heal than was available to me.

“The decision to postpone the fight was not made lightly, but one made in consultation with my doctors, the UFC, and my team.”

McGregor continued: “My fans and opponent deserve me at my best for this fight and we will get there! Thank you for the messages of support, I am in good spirits and confident I’ll be back!”

McGregor last fought back in July 2021 when he lost to American Dustin Poirier.

MMA journalist Ariel Helwani said: “The fight has been pushed because McGregor suffered an injury right before last week’s press conference in Dublin.

“Everyone involved – the UFC, McGregor, Paradigm – did everything in their power to save this. It didn’t look good initially, then it didn’t, then it did and finally it didn’t. The plug was officially pulled a little less than 48 hours ago.”
