Travis Kelce’s wedding to Taylor Swift has sparked more than celebrity headlines. It has also fueled fresh speculation about what comes next once the Kansas City Chiefs star eventually retires from football. The guest list alone has become a talking point, with several of the biggest names in NFL broadcasting attending the celebration. Their presence has prompted renewed discussion about whether Kelce’s next contract could come from a television network rather than an NFL team. Travis Kelce broadcasting rumors gain momentum
Kelce has long hinted that broadcasting is something he wants to explore after his playing career ends. Following his wedding, those conversations intensified after Awful Announcing’s Drew Lerner noted that numerous FOX and Amazon Prime Video personalities attended the ceremony.Representatives from FOX reportedly included Tom Brady, Kevin Burkhardt, Erin Andrews, Greg Olsen, Charissa Thompson, Michael Strahan, Julian Edelman, Rob Gronkowski and rules analyst Dean Blandino. Amazon Prime Video’s Thursday Night Football team was represented by Richard Sherman, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Tony Gonzalez and Andrew Whitworth. The gathering immediately led to speculation that Kelce could already be laying the groundwork for his next career.
Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio believes the Chiefs tight end would have no shortage of offers.”Frankly, Travis would get whichever gig he wants, at any network with an available spot. The only question is the price. And the over-under for the combined gigs would be, in our view, $40 million per year, easily.”That figure would place Kelce among the highest-paid personalities in sports media if he eventually accepts a television role. Kelce’s popularity stretches well beyond football. Along with his NFL success, he has become one of the league’s most recognizable public figures through endorsements, commercials and the hugely successful New Heights podcast with brother Jason Kelce. The podcast’s reported $100 million agreement with Amazon’s Wondery has already demonstrated his value outside the playing field.Could Travis Kelce replace Kirk Herbstreit or join multiple networks?
Kelce has never hidden his interest in life behind the microphone.During an appearance on Bussin’ With The Boys, he explained why broadcasting appeals to him. “I wanna see what calling a game feels like. I’ve always impersonated guys that call the games and stuff like that growing up. I don’t know, I thought it would always be fun to just jump in there. “His comments have become even more relevant as Prime Video prepares for potential changes to its Thursday Night Football coverage. The Athletic’s Andrew Marchand recently identified Kelce as a possible long-term option if Kirk Herbstreit’s contract situation changes after the 2026 season. Veteran play-by-play announcer Al Michaels is also approaching the later stages of his broadcasting career, creating additional uncertainty about the network’s future booth. Florio has even suggested Kelce could split duties between FOX and Amazon rather than committing exclusively to one network. For now, Kelce remains focused on football as he prepares for another season with the Chiefs. Retirement is not yet official, and no broadcasting agreement has been announced.Still, the combination of his media experience, massive audience and growing relationships across television networks has made him one of the most intriguing future broadcasting candidates in the NFL. Whether his next contract comes from FOX, Amazon or another network, many around the league believe a lucrative television career could be waiting whenever he decides to leave the field.
