Chynna Phillips Baldwin is sharing an update on her unconventional living arrangement with husband Billy Baldwin.
The Wilson Phillips singer, 56, went into detail on their current situation in a new video posted to her YouTube channel on Sunday, Nov. 3. In the clip, Chynna opens up about how she and her husband of nearly 30 years came to an agreement about living in different homes â and cities â in California.
âBilly and I are sort of in this new kind of arrangement that is actually really working for me. I donât know if itâs working for Billster, but Iâm really happy with what weâre doing,â she begins, before adding, âBasically, itâs totally unstructured . . . let me explain.â
She continues, âI said to Billy, âLook, why don’t we just do a little test run to see what it feels like to have me in Santa Barbara, you in Beverly Hills, and then we flip-flop. Then in between, we have date nights together, we have therapy, we have dinner with the children and we go to the beach or the museum.â
The pair, who married in 1995, share three adult children together: daughters Jameson, 24, and Brooke, 19, and son Vance, 22.
The couple will spend a few days together when she says “we have sleepovers and stuff,” but they’re not “forcing ourselves to be subjected to each otherâs energy 24/7.”
While her actor husband âis a bit more reticent about the whole thing,â Chynna notes that he was still willing to try out the new setup.
She later goes into more detail about the arrangement while on a FaceTime call with Billy, 61.
âI think that weâre onto something,” she tells her husband. “I really do, because we enjoy each otherâs company. Itâs so hard to articulate to people that weâre madly in love, we really enjoy being around one another, we cherish our marriage, we donât ever want to separate. We just need a little time apart because we are sort of an allergy to one another. And itâs OK. Iâm sure lots of different couples are allergies to each other.”
The actor cuts in, âThe reality is you have the allergy, I have a certain energy that makes you have aâ see, your back just tweaked just now.â He adds, âYou do things that, you know, sort of alter my energy sometimes.â
Also in the video, Chynna explained that her faith played a role in the coupleâs decision to live separately.
âWhere in the Bible does it say that I have to live under the same roof 24/7 with my husband? Can you please find me that scripture?” she asks. “I mean, I have to take care of him, I have to be kind to him, I have to be gentle to him. I have to obey him or, what is the word, submit.â
She adds, âI will submit when Iâm around.â
The pair have previously been open about the evolution of their marriage and shared that they had a “rough heart to heart together” in another YouTube video posted by Chynna in February.
In the clip, the couple revealed they separated for six months but were able to work it out by communicating. Chynna added that it was âan absolute untruthâ that they were in a âlousy relationship,â and her husband agreed.

The singer also admitted that her faith did create a rift in their marriage in the past.
âThe Christianity aspect has been sort of a glaring issue for a while because [religion] has sort of overtaken my life in many ways. It has perhaps even made you question whether you and I can really make it in the long run,â she said to her husband.
Billy responded, “But I still absolutely love you, absolutely adore you, and completely support you. That’s why I’m sitting here now. That’s why we go to church together. That’s why we pray together. That’s why we talk about faith together, That’s why I do this stuff for you … It’s because I’m a supportive, loving husband who adores his wife and wants to spend the rest of my life with you, no question.”
