Michael J. Fox and Tracy Pollan are far from an ordinary couple. For over 35 years, they have shared a beautiful life together, navigating numerous challenges, including Michael’s long battle with Parkinson’s disease. Yet, through it all, their love has only deepened.
Michael recently celebrated his 35th wedding anniversary with Tracy by posting on social media about his deep love and appreciation for her. He shared some really sweet photos from their life together and thanked her for all the “laughter, living, listening, and loving” they’ve shared over the years. He ended his post with a heartfelt message: “Thank you for everything. I’m yours forever, Mike.” Tracy was clearly touched by his words and replied with, “Love you so much!!!” On her own Instagram, she shared similar feelings and expressed excitement for more adventures ahead. Their posts showed just how much love and connection they still have for each other.
Their love story started in 1988 when they first met while filming Family Ties, where Tracy played the girlfriend of Michael’s character. They worked together again in the movie Bright Lights, Big City, and their chemistry on screen soon turned into a real romance. They tied the knot on July 16, 1988, and went on to raise four kids: Sam, Aquinnah, Schuyler, and Esmé.
In 1991, Michael was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease at the young age of 29. This shocking news could have been really tough, but with Tracy by his side, Michael found the courage to face it. Tracy became his rock, providing constant support and care during the most challenging times of their lives together.
Michael often thinks about how Tracy has always been there for him. Even with the challenges that come from Parkinson’s, her loyalty and strength have never changed. He remembers in an interview how, when he first told her about his diagnosis, Tracy stayed calm and supportive right away. This steady support became the backbone of their relationship as they faced the tough times together.
Their relationship is built on a strong understanding of each other. They listen, give each other space, and are always ready to help when needed. Tracy believes that being truly present for one another is the secret to their long-lasting marriage. Michael appreciates Tracy for keeping their family united, recognizing the huge love and care she shows to everyone.
In 2021, Michael stepped back from acting because living with Parkinson’s became more challenging, but he hasn’t lost his spirit. He still puts his energy into the Michael J. Fox Foundation, which is now the biggest nonprofit supporter of Parkinson’s research, raising over $1 billion. His commitment to finding a cure and improving treatments remains strong.
As Michael and Tracy celebrate their 35th anniversary, their journey shows us how powerful love, resilience, and support can be. Their connection is a great example of how a true partnership can survive even the hardest times. Here’s to many more years of love and joy for this amazing couple!
