Strictly fans in tears after Chris McCausland whispers heartbreaking comment to Dianne

On Saturday, Chris McCausland, who is partnered with Aussie pro Dianne Buswell , wowed viewers and judges with his emotional waltz to Liverpool FC’s anthem You’ll Never Walk Alone

Strictly Come Dancing viewers were left fighting back tears after they caught Chris McCausland whispersing a heartbreaking question into his professional partner’s ear following their performance.

Liverpool-born Chris McCausland, 47, who is Strictly’s first ever blind contestant, and his partner Dianne Buswell danced a magical Waltz to You’ll Never Walk Alone by Gerry and the Pacemakers, which left fans emotional on Saturday night.

Chris’ performance to You’ll Never Walk Alone had the judges, including Wirral-born Shirley Ballas almost in tears as he explained why the song meant so much to him. Chris and Australian Dianne received 35 points from judges Shirley, Anton du Beke, Motsi Mabuse and Craig Revel Horwood, their highest score so far in the competition.

After their incredible performance, eagle-eyed fans noticed that Chris had whispered into Dianne’s ear as the pair hugged following the emotional dance. While embracing Chris, Dianne told him: “I’m so proud of you”. To which Chris replied: “Did I do okay?”. In response, professional dancer Dianne insisted: “You did good yeah. Really, really, good.”

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter to react to the sweet moment, TV presenter Dan Walker shared his support for Chris after noticing the Strictly star asking Dianne if he did okay during the performance. “Chris asking Dianne ‘did I do ok?’…. Yes fella, you absolutely smashed it up again,” Dan insisted.

Meanwhile, another Strictly fan shared their hopes that Chris and Dianne will win the 2024 competition as they pointed out the sweet moment too. Needless to say that Chris has cemented his position as the favourite to lift the glitterball trophy this year.

However, his soaraway success is causing BBC bosses a headache, because he won’t be able do the live UK tour.

A clash with his own stand-up dates means that if Chris does triumph in the 2024 series – and the bookies currently have him as the 9/4 favourite – he would be the first winner in the show’s history not to take his dancing shoes on the road afterwards. The problem lies with the comedian’s show, Yonks, which has dates throughout January and February that clash directly with Strictly’s live theatre show.

His absence would prove a blow for fans because dad-of-one Chris, who has been blind since his 20s, has proven to be the stand-out star of the series.

It also calls into question Craig Revel Horwood ’s assurance that the BBC Studios-backed tour, which charges between £35 and £100 per ticket, will allow fans to see “their favourite celebrities and dancers up close and personal.”

One source told The Mirror : “Craig has suggested that all this year’s favourites will be there but that’s not true. How can Chris be in two places at once? As things stand, Chris can’t do it because every show on his comedy tour from January 17 clashes.”
