All The Best And Worst Dressed At The 2026 Met Gala

Everyone on the internet is talking about this year’s annual Met Gala event, as the best and worst dressed A-listers have been revealed.

The most prestigious fashion event of the year landed in New York City last night (May 5), and for those of us who don’t run in celebrity circles, it’s the perfect time to sit on the couch, looking like a potato and judging what everyone is wearing.

This year’s Met Gala was held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, with the theme ‘Fashion Is Art,’ and let’s just say, the celebs did not hold back.

But while many of the usual faces lined up to show off their unique looks on the red carpet, this year’s event has been shrouded in controversy after it was revealed Amazon billionaire Jeff Bezos and his wife Lauren Sánchez Bezos would be serving as honorary chairs and official sponsors.

In the weeks leading up to the $100,000-a-ticket event, calls to boycott the event gained momentum, with people on social media branding the gala the ‘Amazon Prime Gala’ or ‘Bezos Ball.’

Despite the controversy, celebrities still turned up in their droves, so let’s take a look at how everyone embraced the artistic theme.

Best Dressed

Rihanna in Maison Margiela

We love it when A-listers truly embrace the theme, and not only does the Fenty founder look phenomenal, Rihanna looked like a real-life piece of art.

She wore a custom sculptural Maison Margiela by Glenn Martens, paired with an Art Deco headpiece, both said to be inspired by medieval architecture. Beautiful stuff.

You win, Rihanna. You win.

Madonna in Saint Laurent

This look is definitely going to be one of the more controversial appearances at this year’s Met Gala, but if you can’t dress up as a pirate ship out at sea then, when can you?

Madonna’s nautical ensemble was inspired by Surrealist painter Leonora Carrington, and required the help of seven women wearing satin dresses and sheer eye masks to hold out her cape.

It’s dramatic, it’s extreme and frankly, we wouldn’t want anything less from the queen of pop.

Kim Kardashian in Allen Jones & Whitaker Malem

Look, you can’t do a post dedicated to the best dressed at the Met Gala without giving a mention to Kim.

This year, she stepped out wearing a metallic orange bodysuit and an open-front leather skirt, with the look said to pay homage to Allen Jones’ poster for Maîtresse, a 1975 film about a domintatrix.

She looks incredible, as always, and even went as far as debuting the artistic costume on Instagram before landing on the red carpet. A great move for those of us watching and waiting from the comfort of our beds.

Sabrina Carpenter in Dior

Sabrina Carpenter truly embraced the art costume theme in her outfit designed by Dior creative director Jonathan Anderson. The look was made up of rhinestone encrusted filmstrips form the 1954 movie Sabrina, starring Audrey Hepburn, which is a winner for originality alone.

The Manchild singer also wore a stunning headpiece featuring stills from the film, on top of an Old Hollywood style hairdo and diamonds galore.

Worst Dressed

Heidi Klum by Mike Marino

Heidi Klum is an icon, but it feels like she’s trolling us at this point. Despite usually keeping it pretty low key for the Met Gala, the supermodel rocked up looking like she was attending one of her legendary Halloween parties.

The interesting look, custom made by makeup artist Mike Marino, was inspired by works of art including Giuseppe Sanmartino’s ‘Veiled Christ’ and Raffaele Monti’s ‘Veiled Vestal.’

We love the drama of it all, we love that she embodied the theme, but frankly, it’s quite scary.

Katy Perry in Stella McCartney

Katy Perry wore a stunning, albeit plain, white gown with arm-length white satin gloves, but it was the headpiece that left people rather confused.

The Fireworks singer paired the gown with a white mask complete with a silver face plate made by Miodrag Guberinic.

We don’t hate it, but it doesn’t immediately make sense with the theme. However some people on social media have suggested the outfit ‘poked fun at the AI images of her attending previous Met Galas,’ which is pretty funny if true.

If you look closely, you can see the gloves actually have six fingers, which is a reference to a common mistake made by AI when reproducing images. Fair play.

Beyoncé in Olivier Rousteing

It feels criminal to put Queen Bey in worst dressed, but while she looks incredible as always, her costume – like Heidi’s – is giving Halloween costume vibes.

If anyone can pull off a literal skeleton of crystals, it’s Beyoncé

This year, the Crazy In Love singer stepped out onto the Met Gala red carpet for the first time in 10 years, accompanied by husband Jay-Z and their daughter Blue Ivy, who looked the image of her mom during her Met debut.

Bad Bunny

Bad Bunny definitely went all in on the performance art when he stepped out dressed up as an old man and we love the commitment to the theme but it’s certainly an interesting choice.

The Nuevayol singer has certainly gotten people talking with his elderly facial prosthetics, paired with a a stunning black suit and large pussybow.

Embracing the humor around his look, he told Vogue it took him ’53 years exactly’ to get ready for the Met Gala.

Okay, okay. You win.

Kylie Jenner in Schiaparelli

Kylie Jenner always looks incredible, but this definitely isn’t one of her best Met Gala looks.

The vision was there, as she wore a strapless nude bodysuit and long ruffled skirt to give the illusion that the dress was slipping away.

A great concept, just not one of our favourite looks. Interestingly, she paired the look with bleached eyebrows, which will no doubt divide opinion too.
