Interviewer has brutal response as Donald Trump calls himself ‘a truthful person’ on his podcast

Presidential candidate Donald Trump insisted he was “basically a truthful person” but he got an unexpected response from podcast hosts

When you think of Donald Trump, there are some characteristics that spring to mind.

Truth and honesty aren’t necessarily the first things that you think of when picturing the former US president, but while previous court cases and accusations might suggest otherwise, he is insistent that he is ‘a truthful person’.

Appearing on the Flagrant podcast alongside hosts Andrew Schulz and Akaash Singh, Trump delved into hot topics including abortion, his political opponent Kamala Harris, and who he believes was really behind assassination attempt on his life.

In one part of the video podcast, Trump claims: “I have a hard time doing it to them, because I am basically a truthful person.”

As he tries to continue speaking, the podcast hosts burst out laughing, asking him: “What does that mean?”

Trump can barely respond as the two hosts appear to be in stitches over the idea that Trump could be seen as ‘truthful’.

The clip has also been shared by a Kamala Harris fan account on Twitter, which wrote: “Trump: I’m basically a truthful person. Podcaster: *bursts out laughing at him*.”

Others have also reacted to the clip, as one person replied: “He has concepts of being a truthful person”, referencing the highly-memed debate of September where he faced off with his democratic opponent.

Another shared: “I certainly couldn’t keep a straight face with that blatant of a lie. He’s the furthest from a truthful person and we see it every single time he opens his mouth.”

“Trump even lies about his lies,” laughed another.

A fourth wrote: “He’s literally one of the most dishonest people in the world.”

Another shared: “Donald Trump’s claim of being ‘basically a truthful person’ was met with laughter, reflecting widespread skepticism about his credibility.”

Another slammed: “That comment there will seal his fate. This is a true narcissist. This is someone that has no clue about anything other than what his plans are for himself.”

The full video podcast has already had over 1.5 million views in less than 24 hours.

Trump is currently running in the presidential race, which would be his second term in office if he is successful. He’s also the oldest nominee for the Oval Office in history since Biden dropped out.

Despite being in his 70s, he has also given an answer on whether he would run again if he fails to win this election and can therefore stand again in 2028.

Sinclair Broadcast Group journalist Sharyl Attkisson asked him about future campaign plans during an interview on Friday at his home in Mar-a-Lago, in Palm Beach, Florida.

When posed the question of if he would run again in 2028, Trump replied: “No, I don’t. No, I don’t. I think that that will be, that will be it. I don’t see that at all. I think that hopefully we’re gonna be successful.”

While he currently says no, he could well change his mind, and he is certainly no stranger to the presidential race.

He’s run for president four times in total, the first in 2000 for the Reform Party, then when he won in 2016 for the Republicans, and then in 2020, when he lost to Biden.
