So, Trump kidnapping the president of Venezuela isn’t news anymore. It’s made the airwaves in the last 1 hour.

What is news – however – is that supposedly rational, sane humans are calling it a victory and are saying it’s okay so long as Venezuelans are happy.

You mean you don’t see how Trump invaded a nation, disregarded the concept of sovereignty, captured the SITTING PRESIDENT AND FIRST LADY, and extracted them out of their own sovereign nation, as a problem? Like it isn’t a problem to you? Like you don’t see that that is Casus Belli (an act of aggression and a declaration of war)?

For context, using Venezuela and US as example, US military or security agencies cannot step foot on Venezuela’s Embassy in the US (if there is one). That office, that building, is considered and accorded the sovereignty that the country itself gets. That is why whistleblowers or people on the run can go to an embassy, because you cannot invade the Embassy.

But here we are, looking at people cheer the blatant invasion of a sovereign nation. Why am I still surprised? Didn’t you people cheer the shelling and bombing of Iran a few months ago under the guise of “they had reached enrichment levels” even when the IAEA that is West-inclined said they hadn’t? Didn’t Trump ignore IAEA report to bomb Iran? Didn’t I call it out here?

Now, he took another military action without notifying Senate Military Committee. Just a unilateral decision that disregards the concept of sovereignty. And guess what? He still fabricated an excuse predicated on fear (protect US personnel from actual or imminent attack). Now, neither an actual nor an imminent attack had occured, but guess who went guns blazing into another country? The “Man Of Peace”.

But oh well. “Venezuelans are happy”. Yeah, they are. And yes, you’ve set a precedence where a country can invade another country at any time they choose to kidnap their president.
