George Clooney and his wife, Amal, together with their twin children, have left the US. The couple was recently granted French citizenship, something that didn’t go down well with President Donald Trump. On Truth Social, he put out a furious rant about the film star and his family – and Clooney has responded.
George Clooney has long had a thing for Europe. He is said to own a large property in the Como Lake area, and in 2021, the movie star bought the Domaine du Canadel, a former wine estate, near the Provence town of Brignoles, France.
Clooney has previously stated that it is where his family is “happiest” and for the last years, he, his wife, and their twin kids have maintained a stay in France. Now, it appears that it will be full-time. George and his family have been granted French citizenship.

Previously, the Oceans trilogy star has praised French privacy laws, which have helped protect his family from mainly international media intrusion. Also, it made it possible to raise his children outside of Hollywood.
Donald Trump’s scathing attack on Geroge Clooney
The fact that George Clooney, who has been very outspoken against Donald Trump, is leaving the US has made the president furious. To “celebrate” New Year’s on December 31, Trump posted a scathing, lengthy message on Truth Social, slamming Clooney for leaving the US.
Donald Trump stated that the move was “good news,” though not in a complimentary way.
“Good News! George and Amal Clooney, two of the worst political prognosticators of all time, have officially become citizens of France which is, sadly, in the midst of a major crime problem because of their absolutely horrendous handling of immigration,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

“Clooney got more publicity for politics than he did for his very few, and totally mediocre, movies,” the president added. “He wasn’t a movie star at all, he was just an average guy who complained, constantly, about common sense in politics.”
Clooney responds
Still, Clooney doesn’t seem to be bothered by Trump’s words. Per Deadline, in a statement, Clooney responded to Trump’s post, saying, “I totally agree with the current president. We have to make America great again. We’ll start in November.”
Speaking with Variety, Clooney recalled being friendly with Trump before he entered elective politics.
“I knew him very well,” Clooney told the publication. “He used to call me a lot, and he tried to help me get into a hospital once to see a back surgeon. I’d see him out at clubs and at restaurants. He’s a big goofball. Well, he was. That all changed.”
