The US Treasurer, Brandon Beach, has confirmed that there are indeed plans for a new silver dollar featuring President Trump on both sides. This coin is intended to commemorate America’s 250th anniversary next year.
Beach shared online: “No fake news here. These initial drafts celebrating America’s 250th Birthday and POTUS are genuine.” He mentioned that more information will be provided once the government shutdown concludes.
According to early reports, one side of the prototype displays Trump’s face above the phrase “In God we Trust” along with the years 1776-2026. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated: “I’m not entirely sure if he’s seen it yet, but I’m confident he will appreciate it!”
However, federal law might complicate matters. Current regulations prohibit the use of any living president’s likeness on US currency. The presidential gold-dollar coin series also prevents new coins from featuring a living or recently deceased president within two years of their passing.
Due to this, the design could face legal challenges if it proceeds. Nevertheless, it is already attracting significant attention from both supporters and critics who view it as a daring way to celebrate the nation’s significant anniversary.
