If you gather a decent-sized crowd, chances are you’ll find at least one person who has changed their body in some way.
I’m not talking about anything extreme – we’re not discussing limb removals or tongue splits – but rather that the person might have chosen to go all out with piercings or tattoos.
The point is, people altering their appearance to show their inner creativity isn’t a new concept. Some might try out body art, change their hair color, or completely revamp their wardrobe and style… you get the idea.
However, going to the extent of making oneself nearly unrecognizable isn’t the typical route most people take, which makes it even more striking when someone does.
Quest Gulliford, from Las Vegas, Nevada, reportedly started his body modification journey back in 2009. Since then, he has spent an astonishing $70,000 on numerous tattoos and procedures to change his looks.
Now, he’s hardly recognizable as the person he used to be… and his old tattoo photos are quite something.
According to Quest himself, his first tattoos were to honor his battle with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, which he survived in seventh grade. To mark this, he got the words “God First” and a cross tattooed on the left side of his chest, later adding a purple cancer ribbon.
He might not have realized it back then, but this was the beginning of a journey that would bring Quest viral fame and social media popularity. Today, he boasts over 1 million followers on TikTok and more than 250,000 on Instagram.

“I noticed a large lymph node growing… I didn’t think much of it,” he mentioned, according to the Daily Mail.
“It was around six months of chemotherapy. After that, I felt like a superhuman.”
After those first tattoos, he ended up with a whole collection of artwork all over his body. He even had a tattoo artist use a needle on all sides of his eyeballs to make them black.
“It took me quite a while on the day I walked into the shop in Houston, Texas to really get myself ready to go through with it,” he said, as reported by the Mail.
“It’s not just like a tattoo on your skin; it’s more like an injection or a modification.”

Quest may now be covered in hundreds of tattoos, but he recently shared several photos that capture his journey from the very start, showcasing his transformation over the ten years from 2009 to 2019.
