Amanda Seyfried Speaks Out On Comments About Charlie Kirk

Actress Amanda Seyfried has spoken out about her comments following the assassination of Charlie Kirk.

The Mean Girls star has addressed the comments she made about Kirk after his brutal death earlier this year.

The 31-year-old right-wing activist was publicly shot dead in the neck, with footage later circulating on social media.

His widow, Erika Kirk, has been outspoken following his public assassination, expressing her grief and how she is navigating that with two small children.

She noted that she has never, and will never, see the brutally graphic video.

In an interview with Fox News, Erika said: “I never saw the video, I never will see it, I never want to see it.

“There’s certain things you see in your life that you can never unsee, there’s certain things you see that mark your soul forever, and I don’t want my husband’s public assassination to be something I ever see.”

The devastated mom added: “I don’t want my kids to ever see that.

“And for the people who actually enjoy watching that, which is quite literally sick, what if that was your father? Or your brother, sister, there’s a perspective shift there.

“We’re human, life is fragile. And there is so much beauty in the world, why would you spend time looking at something so evil?”

Numerous celebrities spoke out following Kirk’s death, and others chose to keep quiet. Some seemingly alluded to his death, one being Justin Bieber.

He posted a picture of his family values, which were hung on a wall.

Among them were statements such as: “We value rest as worship.

“We value helath and physical wellness as an act of stewardship.

“We value human beings and believe in their dignity and eternal worth.”

Although many of Bieber’s fans praised the sentiment, the timing of the post drew anger from some followers who accused him of ignoring Kirk’s assassination.

One user fumed: “Mention the assassination of Charlie Kirk who left behind a beautiful wife and two children. SAY HIS BEAUTIFUL NAME!!!!!!”

Another echoed the criticism: “Sad that you’ve not mentioned the loss of a fellow brother in Christ. You spoke loudly for George Floyd – why not now?”

Celebrities such as Arnold Schwarzenegger called for an end to political violence.

In a message shared on X (formerly Twitter), he urged Americans to ‘rediscover their humanity.’

But one celebrity who did not hold back was actress Seyfried.

Shortly after it was confirmed by President Trump that Kirk had died, Seyfried commented on a social media post that compiled together some of his views on immigrants, women, and birth control.

Her comment underneath sparked a lot of backlash.

However, the actress is now refusing to apologize for what she said, despite his widow Erika calling for an end to the hate.

Speaking to Who What Wear in a recent interview, the star said: “I’m not f***ing apologising for that.

“I mean, for f***’s sake, I commented on one thing.

“I said something that was based on actual reality and actual footage and actual quotes.”

She added: “What I said was pretty damn factual, and I’m free to have an opinion, of course.”

Following her statement underneath the Instagram post, the Mamma Mia star felt like she needed to clarify her views.

Speaking to her fans, she wrote: “I can get angry about misogyny and racist rhetoric and ALSO very much agree that Charlie Kirk’s murder was absolutely disturbing and deplorable in every way imaginable.

“No one should have to experience this level of violence.

“This country is grieving too many senseless and violent deaths and shootings. Can we agree on that at least?”

The initial comment Seyfried wrote underneath the post read: “He was hateful.”
