Diane Keaton’s tragic final post has been revealed, after it was announced that the Hollywood star died on Saturday (October 11).

A spokesperson for the American actress revealed over the weekend that she had tragically passed away, as tributes from fans and co-stars poured in.

The Los Angeles Fire Department confirmed that Keaton had died on Saturday (October 11), having transported the 79-year-old to a local hospital.

The statement read: “There are no further details available at this time, and her family has asked for privacy in this moment of great sadness.”

The actresses legendary career included films such as Annie HallThe First Wives Club, Something’s Gotta Give and The Godfather.

While an official cause of death has not been confirmed, close friends of the star have noted that she ‘declined very suddenly.’

Speaking to the DailyMail, her longtime friend, Carole Bayer Sager, said: “I saw her two or three weeks ago, and she was very thin.

“She had lost so much weight.”

The songwriter noted that Keaton had been affected by the wildfires that caused devastations across Los Angeles in January.

Sager added: “She had to go to Palm Springs because her house has been damaged inside and they had to clean everything.

“She was down there for a while, and when she came back, I was kind of stunned by how much weight she’d lost.”

The friend described Keaton as a ‘magic light for everyone.’

“She was so special, she just lit up a room with her energy.”

Another insider, speaking to PEOPLE, said: “It was so unexpected, especially for someone with such strength and spirit.

“In her final months, she was surrounded only by her closest family, who chose to keep things very private.

“Even longtime friends weren’t fully aware of what was happening.”

On April 7, Keaton posted a picture of herself with her golden retriever, in honor of National Pet Day.

In the comments of the post, fans have shared just how enormous the loss feels.

One said: “A true legend. Thank you for your talent, your animal advocacy, your immeasurable charm. You will be missed.”

As another wrote: “I wasn’t ready for this forever lively legend to be gone so soon.”

A third added: “Lost one of the greatest actors and lights of this world today.”
