1000-lb Sisters star Tammy Slaton looks unrecognizable after showing off her dramatic weight loss.
Slaton stars in the popular TLC reality show alongside her sister Amy. It follows the siblings as they open up about their weight loss journeys and private lives.
Prior to season four, fans expressed concern for Slaton’s health.
However, judging by the TV personality’s recent TikTok and Instagram posts, things are on the up, as she’s showing off her dramatic weight loss across social media!
Fans have been responding to the image on social media, with one user saying, “Tammy looks amazing.”
Another wrote, “Look at you, girl! What a journey.”
A third added, “You look incredible, Tammy. I’m so proud of you.”
Someone else shared, “Wow! The transformation is unbelievable! I’m so happy for you—I might have shed a tear.”
A fifth fan congratulated the reality star, writing, “Tammy must be so proud of herself. She fought hard and proved everyone wrong. Congrats, girl!”
Slaton’s fans were hugely concerned for her following the events of season three, which showed the 38-year-old being rushed to the hospital, while at the time she was at a weight loss facility.
At one point, viewers were left terrified when Slaton stopped breathing and had to be put on a ventilator.
While at the hospital, Slaton underwent a tracheotomy procedure.
A tracheotomy involves creating an opening through the neck into the windpipe and allowing air to fill the lungs.
After creating the tracheostomy opening, surgeons insert a tube through it to provide an airway and remove secretions from the lung, as per Johns Hopkins Medicine.
Slaton’s sister Amy told cameras in the episode: “They’re [the doctors] just telling us that her lungs have given up and like her body is shutting down.
“So at this point, we’re facing making funeral arrangements for my little sister… She’s been in such a bad place for so long.
“She waited too long. And now that she has the courage to step out and get the help that she needs, now this.”
Slaton has been open about her hospitalization and near-death experience, sharing her perspective with People magazine.
The reality star said: “I’m feeling great! I’m thankful to be alive, and it’s fun to be progressing as much as I am.”
Slaton has been open about her struggle with food addiction and has sought help to shed the pounds, successfully reaching her weight goal.
In 2022, Tammy underwent gastric band surgery, a procedure where a silicone band, known as the Lap-Band, is placed around the stomach to reduce its capacity and slow the passage of food, according to the Cleveland Clinic, leading to her reportedly dropping over 400Ib!
In the latest season of 1000-Ib Sisters, Tammy shared her excitement, saying: “When I got on the scale and I saw the scale was at 534.7, I kinda stopped breathing for a second.
“I’m like 14lbs under my goal weight. From over 700, that’s a huge drop. I’m feeling thrilled, proud, excited… just all the emotions.
“I proved everybody wrong. Everybody that doubted me, I finally got mine! My told-you-so moment!”
Thanks to her weight loss journey, Tammy has achieved a significant milestone – she can now walk independently and has been spotted taking walks.
“One of the big changes that I have gone through this past year is probably small to most people,” she told People.
“But for me it was huge. Just being able to walk without a walker or be pushed in a wheelchair, and no oxygen. I don’t even sleep with it at night anymore.
“Then it was being able to fit in a regular vehicle, front seat, and then the belt buckle, and not have to use an extender now. So I mean, just what seems minor to some people is giant for me.”
Previously, she relied on a wheelchair for mobility.
But now, following her dramatic weight loss, fans are calling Tammy unrecognizable!
She recently celebrated a major milestone, revealing on TikTok that she has lost 500 pounds.
In the video, she appeared alongside other weight loss “warriors” and shared an inspirational message about inner and outer beauty.
Fans praised her transformation, with many calling her an inspiration.
Fans were recently left in awe of the reality star as she proudly showed off her transformation in a cute swimsuit photo.
Sitting in a swimming pool, Tammy is seen wearing a blue, mermaid-printed suit while posing next to her friend Haley Michelle, who frequently shares pictures of the two spending time together.
Michelle posted the image on Instagram, captioning it: “Proud of you #tammyslatonweightloss.”
