A lip reader has revealed what Donald Trump said to Elon Musk during Charlie Kirk‘s funeral.
The memorial service for conservative activist Charlie Kirk on Sunday was a politically charged occasion.
Held at State Farm Arena in Glendale, Arizona, the event brought together mourners to honor the late 31-year-old, who was shot dead on September 10 while visiting Utah Valley University.
Among the high-profile attendees were U.S. President Donald Trump and Tesla CEO Elon Musk, whose appearance together marked the first time they had been seen publicly since their bitter falling-out earlier this year.
Given the acrimonious history between the two men – once close allies, later open adversaries – their brief interaction immediately drew intense speculation.

Trump and Musk’s relationship has been a rollercoaster of mutual admiration, political collaboration, and very public feuding, per CNN.
Musk was once one of Trump’s most powerful allies, donating millions through his America PAC and serving as the first head of Trump’s newly created Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
Together, they worked to mobilize conservative voters ahead of the 2024 election, particularly on college campuses where Kirk and Musk played parallel roles in Republican registration drives.
But by June 2025, the partnership had unraveled. Musk resigned from DOGE, blasting Trump’s so-called ‘One Big Beautiful Bill’ as fiscally reckless.
Their dispute spiraled into open warfare when Musk suggested Trump’s name appeared in unsealed Jeffrey Epstein files, an allegation that infuriated the president.
Trump retaliated by calling Musk a ‘bulls*** artist’ and even floated the idea of deporting him during a Michigan rally.
Given this backdrop, the pair’s reunion at Kirk’s funeral was bound to make headlines.

Sunday’s memorial featured tributes from Trump’s family, including Eric and Donald Trump Jr., as well as Vice President J.D. Vance.
Kirk’s widow, Erika, delivered a moving speech, choosing forgiveness over anger as she addressed the crowd. Trump praised Kirk as ‘a friend’ who built lasting grassroots movements for conservatism.
Footage from the service, shared by the official White House account on X, captured Trump and Musk greeting one another in Trump’s private box.
The clip shows the president leaning in to shake Musk’s hand before the two exchanged a few words.
According to professional lip reader Nicola Hickling, per MailOnline, Trump opened the conversation with: “How are you doing?” followed by: “So Elon, I’ve heard you wanted to chat.”
The president then added a conciliatory note: “Let’s try and work out how to get back on track.”
Musk responded with a small nod, signaling openness without committing to words. In perhaps the most striking moment of the encounter, Trump tapped Musk’s hand and concluded with: “I’ve missed you.”
Trump later confirmed the conversation was cordial to Sky News.
While Musk has not publicly commented on the lip reader’s findings, he did share a photo of himself sitting beside Trump at the service, captioned simply: “For Charlie.”
