After a lot of thinking and worrying that their traits might be passed down to their kids, the couple decided to go ahead with their first pregnancy. OBOZ.UA wanted to show what the happy family looks like now and share the challenges they faced.
When getting ready for the birth of their first daughter, doctors informed the Australians that there was only a 25% chance of having a child without a genetic disorder, and the same chance that the child might not survive at all. Luckily, the worst did not happen.
However, baby Tilba was diagnosed with achondroplasia, a genetic condition that causes dwarfism. Doctors cautioned her parents that she might face spinal issues later on, but overall she is a healthy and lively child.
In 2018, Charlie discovered she was expecting another daughter, who also inherited the condition from her father – achromatic dysplasia. Even though both kids would grow up with dwarfism, Charlie’s pregnancies went well.
