Officers from the US Secret Service Uniformed Division reacted to a person climbing an outer fence on the South Grounds of the White House around 4:20 p.m.
According to a statement from the Secret Service, “The White House complex is protected by a mix of uniformed officers, special agents, mission support staff, and advanced security systems that maintain constant watch over its 18 acres.” The statement added, “As per standard Secret Service procedures, this incident—along with the security measures and response—will be reviewed by the agency’s protective operations team.”
The individual, whose name has not been disclosed, was wearing an all-black outfit. A tourist captured footage of the event, showing the man scaling the fence and exclaiming, “F–k it.”
“I witnessed something pretty surreal at the White House today. This guy walked past my wife and me while we were taking pictures of the White House. He said ‘F$ck it’ and started crossing barriers until he got to the White House fence. It was crazy to see the snipers on the roof moving around and dogs running out on the lawn,” the person who recorded the video shared on X.
A bystander was overheard asking, “Dude, what are they waiting for?”

The man got caught on the spikes at the top of the fence and began to climb down when he was surrounded by agents.
It’s unclear why the man chose to scale the fence in the first place. The situation is still under a “protective operations review” by the Secret Service, according to agency protocol, as reported by the Daily Mail.
“This was a one-off event, and the person was taken into custody within moments,” a spokesperson for the Secret Service stated. “At no point were the President or White House staff in any danger.”
No details about potential charges against the man have been made public.
