In a chat with Steven Bartlett on the Diary of a CEO podcast, she explained that if she and Barack were ever going to split, “everyone would know.”
She also touched on how some people just can’t seem to grasp the idea that she might be capable of making her own choices, which is where a lot of the assumptions probably come from.
She reflected on how different things feel now, saying: “It takes a second when you start thinking, well ‘can you go here? Can you say this? Can you touch this third rail?’.”

Michelle kept the mood light by adding: “Barack was joking, he’s like, ‘you don’t even take pictures of anything we do’, I was like, ‘I’m not thinking about a picture’.”
They tied the knot four years later. Their daughter Malia was born in 1998, followed by their second daughter, Natasha, three years after that.
He led the country for two full terms, wrapping up his presidency in 2017.
Since then, he has admitted that their time in the White House didn’t come without its challenges, including strain on their marriage.
