Kids are naturally curious and love to explore new things. We’ve all experienced that, haven’t we? But it’s really important for parents to watch over their kids and teach them how to make smart choices, especially when they’re not around.
A boy named Tyler Broome, who is 11 years old, got seriously hurt while trying a dangerous YouTube challenge called “the roundabout of death.” His parents are now sharing his story to warn other parents about the risks of these crazy stunts.
Tyler wanted to impress his friends by showing he was brave, but it ended up with him being knocked out and facing possible brain and vision injuries.
The injuries Tyler sustained can bee seen in fighter pilots or astronauts who can be subjected to extreme gravitational force, G-force.
The game is played by partakers sitting in the middle of a playground roundabout while it’s spun at high speed using the rear wheel of a motorcycle.
Dawn, Tyler’s mom, shared that her son and one of his friends were hanging out at the park when some older kids dared them to join in a game.
A mother told The Independent, “I can hardly recognize my son – he looks like he might have a stroke. Tyler was sitting on the roundabout when a boy, who looked around 17, came over. Tyler doesn’t know him; they aren’t friends. The boy put his motorbike down and made the roundabout spin really fast. Once it stopped, the group just left – that’s bullying.”
When Tyler was taken to the hospital in a hurry, the doctors were really surprised by how he looked. They mentioned that they had never encountered a situation like his before, so they needed to do some research and talk to other hospitals before they could begin treating his injuries.
The injuries were really bad; he looked just like the Elephant Man. They’ve never seen anything like it before, and they’re going to write a medical report about it. His head is all swollen, his blood vessels have popped, and his eyes look really strange. He can’t see clearly. You can deal with a broken arm, but this? He doesn’t even remember what happened, he can’t recall the details, Dawn said.
We really hope that sweet Tyler will be okay and that he won’t ever do anything risky that could endanger his life again. Please share this story to help other parents understand the risks of this stunt and similar dangerous activities.
