She’s got a medical exemption from ‘Jack and the Screamstalk’
Some fans of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! have been left a tad confused after campmate Tulisa Contostavlos of N-Dubz fame was given an exemption from an upcoming Bushtucker Trial.
All of the celebrities in camp are going to have to run the risk of going through Bushtucker Trials at some point, and pretty much nobody is getting through the I’m A Celeb experience without having to go through some unpleasant moments.
However, every now and then when the voting is up for a Bushtucker Trial there’ll be someone in camp who doesn’t have to do it because they’re exempt.
The show has a duty to make sure that the people involved are alright medically, with some contestants over the years leaving the show on ‘medical grounds’.
At other times contestants know they won’t have to do a trial if they’re unwell or it contains certain elements it wouldn’t be safe for them to try.
Tulisa deduced that ‘Jack and the Screamstalk’ would be a heights Bushtucker Trial as she was exempt. (ITV)
Such a situation was present on the recent episode of I’m A Celeb where Ant and Dec told them that Dean McCullough would be doing the upcoming trial ‘Jack and the Screamstalk’.
Points for the person who came up with that name, and spare a thought for Dean as he keeps getting voted onto doing trials.
As for what he can expect to face, fellow campmate Tulisa said she was sure it would be a Bushtucker Trial involving heights because she was exempt from doing it.
She said: “I know it’s heights because it’s what I’m medically exempt from.”
This comment left some fans puzzled as they could have sworn they saw her ‘jump out of a helicopter’ at the start of this year’s run.
People wondered ‘did I dream her jumping out of a plane’ at the start of I’m A Celeb and were confused at her having to do that while being ‘medically exempt from a heights challenge’.
Notice the presence of someone else here making sure she’s fine at all times while doing this? That’s why she could do this while being exempt from certain trials. (ITV)
While plenty were left scratching their heads over how she could have such a dynamic entry into I’m A Celeb and be exempt from Bushtucker Trials with heights there is a good reason.
Tulisa has Bell’s Palsy, which is a ‘temporary weakness or lack of movement that usually affects one side of the face’, and it can be dangerous if she’s high up in case there’s another attack.
It’d leave her in a precarious position and make it hard for help to reach her.
On the other hand, when she was dropping into the jungle from the skies she had people to help her with that as she was attached to an expert who knew what they were doing.
It’s probably best to listen to the experts on this one, and we all knew Dean was going to have to do it anyway.
