Potterheads have been left absolutely ‘mind-blown’ after making the revelation
It’s become a bit of a tradition to make your way through all eight Harry Potter films in the run-up to the festive season.
Something about those Gryffindor scarfs, the banquet feasts and the copious amounts of butter beer just feels like the perfect movie marathon to sink your teeth into for a dose of childhood nostalgia.
However, despite the franchise boasting one of the most die-hard followings, some fans are still finding out major hidden details they’ve never clocked before.
Some were so ‘mind-blown’ by the discovery that they’re actually ‘refusing to believe’ they never noticed an extremely chilling detail in the Prisoner of Azkaban that told viewers who was next to die.
One fan of the film franchise shared a video sharing their discovery with a voiceover saying: “I can’t believe I just realised this crazy detail in the Harry Potter series.”
They explained that, in the Prisoner of Azkaban, during Christmas, there were just a few students and professors in the Great Hall – 12, to be exact.
In this scene, Professor Trelawney – played by Emma Thompson – declines Albus Dumbledore’s invitation to join the table and states: “I dare not, Headmaster! If I join the table, we shall be 13! Nothing could be more unlucky!”

She adds: “Never forget that when 13 dine together, the first to rise will be the first to die.”
But, what some fans may not know is that the harm was already done as Ron Weasley had Scabbers, AKA Peter Pettigrew, with him so there were 13 of them after all.
The first to ‘rise’ from eating was none other than, you guessed it, Dumbledore who was also the first of them to die.
“And what’s crazier is that this prediction repeats two more times,” the voiceover continued. “At the beginning of the fifth book, 13 members of the Order of the Phoenix had dinner at Grimmauld Place, and the first to rise as Sirius Black, and he was the first of them to die.”
Another example of this prophecy could be seen in the Deathly Hallows when Moody’s death leaves 13 members alive.
“They all gather and raise a toast to him. And guess who’s the first one to rise? Remus Lupin, the first to die in the Battle of Hogwarts,” the fan rounded off.

After making the ‘mind-blowing’ bombshell revelation, Potterheads rushed to social media to share their thoughts.
One X user penned: “How did we never realise!”
A second quipped: “No way!!! Wow I can’t believe I’ve never noticed this!”
“God damm it,” joked a third. “Now I have to watch all the movies again to check if this is the case or not.”
And a final X user added: “Oh, it’s that time of year again when the Harry Potter marathons just hit differently. Magic season is here!”
It sure is!
